POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Mechanical Engineer is responsible for collaborating with the local team and global team on researching, planning and designing world-class products that satisfy our customer's needs. This process includes designing and supporting products that meet Amphenol Network Solutions design standards, design for manufacturing, meet product cost targets, customer requirements and completing all documentation in accordance with the ANS Product Development Process.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Experienced in designing new parts or products or modifying existing designs in accordance with product requirements.
- Must be a collaborative team player, with co-workers across multiple time zones and regions.
- Owns and conducts advanced research and analysis on appropriate designs and materials required for customer specific applications that are also compliant with standards.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands.
- Solicits and actively participate in product design and validation reviews to eliminate design errors, maximize use of common parts, and optimize manufacturability and cost.
- Ownership in engineering analysis, development testing, qualification testing, through to product launch.
- Implement designs that match a broad range of manufacturing methods (plastics molding, sheet metal production, extruding, welding, adhesives, machining, and stamping, meet Amphenol's design standards and drive for utilization of common components and subassemblies.
- Follow the New Product Development process from concept, rapid prototyping including 3D printing through to completion while meeting requirements through to product launch.
- Learn and implement in-house and supplier manufacturing processes, parts and technologies.
- Collaborates with internal engineering, operations, quality and supply chain colleagues, managers and suppliers.
- Produces and maintains 3D models, drawings, instructions and specifications required by Engineering Change Orders and provides technical writing support.
- Able to accurately input bills of materials BOMs into Enterprise Resource Planning systems like SAP, Oracle or Epicor.
- Experience in creatively able to meet pre-determined schedules, remain within the engineering development budget, track and meet product cost targets, and customer feature and performance requirements.
- Establishes controls in the process that supports compliance with the guidelines established in the comprehensive system.
- Recommend and provide the use of materials required for our processes and products so that they are aligned with the requirements of the environmental system.
- Adjust, correct and / or stop any process or activity that affects the operation of the Environmental, Quality and OEA Management System.
- Communicate to the EHS and Quality department to review and identify the environmental aspects and legal requirements applicable to new projects (applies to any change in the process).
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- At least 7 years of design experience including sheet metal design, plastic molding preferred.
- Experience in rapid prototyping and design for manufacturing
- Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering required
PHYSICAL & MENTAL DEMANDS
- Experienced at building and testing prototypes products
- Hands-on building, precision measuring and evaluating prototypes through to pre-production products and systems. .
- Able to lift up to 25 lbs
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Occasional domestic and international travel
- Extensive time with computer 3D CAD programs, databases, spreadsheets, and document management systems
LANGUAGE AND PEOPLE SKILLS
- Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results
- Problem solving skills, ability to drive to a root cause analysis.
- Strong personal and professional ethical values and integrity
COMPUTER SKILLS
- Experience with Solidworks or equivalent 3-D Modeling software.
- Experience with advanced analysis such as FEA and CFD is a plus
COMPENSATION
Pay Range: $105,000-$120,000/year
Status: Exempt
