Survey Crew Chief Job Description Join a dynamic team as a Survey Crew Member where you will play a vital role in a significant highway design project. This entry-level position offers opportunities for career growth and development in the field of land surveying. Responsibilities Coordinate daily with the field coordinator, project managers, and other office staff. Ensure safety compliance and adhere to all safety regulations. Supervise all members of the survey crew and work independently as needed. Upload and download data collectors daily. Maintain and charge survey instrumentation. Advance knowledge with technology and equipment upgrades. Assist the Party Chief in carrying survey equipment and supplies to the job site. Clear vegetation obstructing the line of sight and assist in data collection. Work in the office during inclement weather, learning CAD and supporting other tasks. Essential Skills Experience running a crew using robotic total stations and GPS is preferred but not required. Proficiency with Trimble or other survey equipment such as GPS, Robotics, Total Stations, Levels, and Data Collectors. Basic mathematical calculation skills are preferred. Additional Skills & Qualifications Familiarity with AutoCAD and Microstation is preferred but not required. Willingness to learn and follow directions from the Party Chief. Ability to work in various weather conditions and a strong work ethic. Work Environment This position involves working outdoors in diverse weather conditions as part of a survey crew. Report to the Party Chief / Field Coordinator and assist in executing survey tasks safely and effectively. Opportunities for career advancement are available. During inclement weather, work will be office-based, offering learning experiences with CAD software. Overtime work is optional, providing flexibility for those who wish to earn more.
