Job Description
- Oversee contractor activities and performance on various projects including remediation projects, landfill construction, and industrial process projects.
- Perform field and on-site laboratory tests on soil, geosynthetics, aggregates, and other materials primarily associated with landfill and waste containment system construction.
- Monitor activities on job sites to ensure compliance with relevant contract documents such as technical specifications, construction drawings, sampling plans, and CQA plans.
- Provide CQA monitoring on several types of construction and environmental activities on enviro-civil construction sites.
- Perform multi-media sampling in support of investigations, monitoring programs, and other data collection-centric projects.
- Prepare daily and weekly field reports, construction schedules, and progress reports.
- Ensure project documentation is correct and consistent with company policies and procedures.
- Interact with project personnel including contractors, project managers, engineers, and clients, fostering an integrated team approach.
- Assist in the preparation of final reports, work plans, health and safety documents, and the assembly of report appendices.
- Observe and abide by the policies and procedures outlined in site-specific project health and safety plans and the companys Environmental Health and Safety Management policies.
- Perform tasks in other company practice areas including general construction services, environmental sampling, contractor oversight, or construction quality assurance activities as needed.
- 2+ years of Construction Material Testing (CMT) experience, particularly in concrete, soils, and/or geosynthetics.
- Understanding of basic mathematical capabilities including square yardage, lengths, basic geometry, and algebra.
- Proficient report writing skills, responsible for daily field reports, and basic PC use, including email.
- Experience with multi-media sampling such as soil, water, air, and geosynthetics.
- Nuclear Gauge, ACI, ICC Soils certifications are a big plus but not required.
- Water sampling experience is a great perk.
- Must be a self-starter and trustworthy with the ability to work independently.
- Experience in landfill work including soil density, liner installation, and contractor oversight is beneficial.
The position requires working outdoors and involves extensive fieldwork. Work hours are typically 10-hour days from 7 am to 5 or 6 pm, with occasional Saturdays when the Geosynthetics Liner Crew is on site. Lodging and per diem are provided every day of the week while traveling for projects. The job involves 100% travel for the first few months for training, followed by local assignments mainly in Atlanta, GA, Carrolton, GA, and Milledgeville, GA. Training includes OSHA health and safety, first aid, and CPR, paid for by the firm. Professional and technical development opportunities are available. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $30.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your jobclassification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be
