Job Title: Fabricator
Location: Grand Rapids, MI
Hours: First Shift | 5:00 AM - 4:00 PM Second Shift 4:00PM-3:00AM **Second Shift trains on day shift
Pay: Starts at $20.00/hour+, 10% 2nd Shift Premium
We are currently seeking an experienced Fabricator to join our Structural Steel team in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This position offers the opportunity to work with a collaborative, hands-on crew in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in layout, welding, and the fabrication of structural steel, including stainless steel, aluminum, and carbon steel. Responsibilities:
Lift, position, and remove work pieces from conveyors and bunks (up to 50 lbs).
Measure and mark reference points using tape measures for layout.
Load, stack, and transport stock, tools, and in-process work by hand or crane.
Attach chains and clamps to workpieces for crane or jib movement.
Clean and grind metal surfaces prior to fabrication, welding, painting, or shipping.
Remove scrap and maintain cleanliness in work areas.
Operate overhead cranes and other related equipment.
Maintain cleanliness of work area, machines, tools, and equipment.
Requirements:
2-3 years of fabrication experience, particularly in structural steel.
Welding certification in carbon steel (MIG & SMAW), or ability to become certified.
TIG welding skills in stainless steel and aluminum are a plus.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
Strong work ethic, team-oriented mindset, and attention to detail.
Solid math and reading skills required.
Mechanical aptitude, analytical skills, and manual dexterity preferred.
Able to read, write, and speak English.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Must be a self-starter capable of working with minimal supervision.
