Structural Engineering Project Manager

Overview

A leading civil engineering firm is seeking a skilled and motivated Structural Engineering Project Manager to join their growing team. This role will involve managing a variety of structural engineering projects across transportation and non-transportation sectors. The ideal candidate brings a mix of technical expertise, leadership capability, and a strong commitment to quality and client satisfaction.

Responsibilities

As the Structural Engineering Project Manager, you will:

Lead project teams and oversee structural engineering efforts from concept through completion.

Conduct on-site assessments and generate condition reports based on existing plans and real-time evaluations.

Review and coordinate technical calculations and engineering drawings for accuracy and completeness.

Provide mentorship to junior staff and promote collaboration across disciplines.

Manage client communications and ensure alignment with project goals and expectations.

Contribute to the design process as needed, maintaining current technical proficiency.

Collaborate with senior leadership on strategic project planning and business development.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil preferred).

Licensure: Professional Structural Engineer (S.E.) license in Illinois or ability to obtain within 12 months.

Experience: 6+ years of structural engineering experience in the U.S., including municipal, county, or state transportation projects.

Technical Proficiency:

Required: Microsoft 365, Adobe, MicroStation

Preferred: MDX, HEC-RAS, RISA-3D

Leadership: Demonstrated success in managing teams and mentoring engineers (local and remote).

Location: Based in or willing to relocate to Decatur, IL. Hybrid schedule offered. Travel within Illinois for project site visits required.
