JOB SUMMARY
The Warehouse II Mechanic performs preventive maintenanceand repair of gasoline and diesel-powered farm equipment, machines, andvehicles, such as mowers, tractors, weed eaters, chain saws, cars and vans. TheMechanic maintains records on preventive maintenance services performed andrepairs completed on all equipment.
MAJOR DUTIES
Performs preventive maintenance of equipment and vehicles by following manufacturers' recommendations or using personal experience regarding tune-ups, lubrication, oil and filter changes, adjusting or changing belts and hoses, sharpening or replacing blades, on trucks, vans, tractors, and similar grounds and maintenance equipment.
Reduce the need for contract maintenance services of vehicles and equipment by troubleshooting and repairing (within capabilities) a variety of equipment, automotive and truck problems including electrical systems, brakes, carburetors, engine compression, clutch and transmission, injectors, differentials, pumps, hydraulic and power take-off operations.
Make recommendations for vehicles and equipment requiring major maintenance services or repairs.
Promotes preventive maintenance as a strategy for maintaining vehicles and equipment by developing and recommending preventive maintenance programs and schedules.
Instructing Field and Maintenance Workers on the proper methods of operation and upkeep of the equipment, inspecting tools and equipment for their condition, repairing, cleaning, adjusting or lubricating them, and notifying the appropriate supervisor of signs of equipment abuse or neglect.
Maintains appropriate maintenance records by keeping records of all equipment operating hours, preventive maintenance services performed, and repairs completed.
Ensures the availability and accountability of required parts, components, and supplies by recommending inventory parts and supplies for vehicles and equipment.
Repairs damaged equipment by welding and/or cutting to mend broken, bent or loose items where close fit or tolerances are not critical.
Assists the Warehouse Coordinator in the preparation of bid sheets and purchase orders by contacting vendors and commercial suppliers for bids on specific parts and identifying the proper mechanical terminology to describe the parts needed.
Utilize computerized work order management system to generate reports and other related paperwork.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGEREQUIRED BY THE POSITION
General mechanical ability
Ability to diagnose gasoline and diesel engine failures and make repairs to engine, carburetor, injectors, diesel pumps, electrical, brake, steering, transmission and hydraulic systems.
Knowledge of equipment and vehicle maintenance schedules.
Skill in the use of an arc welder and cutting torch
Skill in the use of computers and job-related software programs.
Skills in the use of hand tools and test equipment associated with the maintenance of gasoline and diesel engines
Skill in oral and written communication.
SUPERVISORY CONTROLS
Warehouse II Mechanic, under the direction of theWarehouse Coordinator assigns work in terms of general instructions. Thesupervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures, accuracy,and the nature and propriety of the final results.
GUIDELINES
Guidelines include maintenance and repair of FacilitiesManagement equipment, vehicles and equipment maintenance schedules. Theseguidelines are generally clear and specific, but may require someinterpretation in application.
COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK
The work consists of various duties involving different and unrelated processes and methods in diagnosing and repairing, which contributes to the complexity of the position.
The purpose of this position is to maintain equipment and fleet maintenance operations. Success in this position contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of department operations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORKENVIRONMENT

MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONS
A high school diploma or the equivalent specialized or technical training in the repair and maintenance of small and large sized gasoline and diesel engines preferred, but not required.
At least two years of experience in repairing gasoline and diesel-powered engines is required; experience repairing and maintaining two- and four-stroke engines, small diesel engines, hydraulics, welding and torch work is preferred.
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid drivers license issued by the State of Oklahoma for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
Annual salary $28,188.00 with excellent benefits, including generous leave time.
