Heavy Equipment Mechanic Job Description We are looking for a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to maintain and repair company vehicles and field equipment. This role involves working both on-site for minor repairs and in the shop for more extensive maintenance tasks. Responsibilities Perform repairs on equipment safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively, both in the field and in the shop. Troubleshoot electrical, engine, transmission, brakes, steering, frame, cab, and hydraulic systems, utilizing diagrams, service manuals, and troubleshooting web tools like VCAD's. Communicate with customers regarding issues and cost estimates for repair work. Order necessary parts for repairs and coordinate with the parts department regarding backorders. Conduct welding on equipment as required. Perform routine maintenance checks and adjustments on fluid levels, hoses, belts, brakes, tires, clutches, and change filters and oil. Essential Skills Proficient in diesel and heavy equipment mechanics. Ability to read and interpret service manuals and bulletins. Experience with troubleshooting web tools such as VCAD's. Additional Skills & Qualifications Skilled in welding. Knowledgeable in conducting routine maintenance checks.
