About the Role:

Windstream's Permit team is an important piece of the Windstream network. This team is responsible for obtaining permits from cities, counties, state DOTs, pole attachments, railroads, local landowners, government entities, and tribes for projects to build out Windstream's network. The Permit Team serves as the liaison between Windstream's Construction and Engineering Managers and Engineers and the permitting entities to obtain these permits. The Permit Team is leaned on for their expertise and knowledge on all permitting issues. This position is perfect for an individual with lots of energy and desire to learn in a very challenging, fast-paced work environment.

What You'll Do:

  • Process and compile all necessary documentation to submit permit requests to correct permitting entity for city, county, DOT, and pole owners
  • Learn online internal and external websites to submit permit requests
  • Build great working relationships with both internal Windstream employees from the Permit, local OSP, Central Engineering, Accounting, and Legal teams
  • Provide accurate, timely, and concise project updates both verbally and written
  • Provide accurate, timely, and concise reporting for both recurring and ad-hoc
  • Analyze data and work prints and provide recommendations on appropriate courses of action

Do You Have?

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to provide accurate, timely, and concise updates to leadership
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills to maintain and update several data lists at the same time
  • The ability to remain focused and multi-task in a fast-paced environment, performing required duties and meeting deadlines
  • Knowledge in multiple MS Office applications especially Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • Understanding of engineering and construction methodologies
  • Ability to communicate professionally via email, phone calls and video conferencing and exhibit strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to learn new software quickly
  • Ability to work efficiently on your own
  • Ability to organize daily schedule based off escalated projects and tickets
  • Great problem-solving skills
  • Great organizational habits

Even Better:

  • Telecom experience
  • Knowledge of permitting processes and procedures with city, county, DOT, and railroad agencies, etc.
  • GIS/mapping experience
  • Knowledge obtaining easements and recording with local county
  • OSP engineering knowledge and an aptitude to learn

Minimum Requirements:

College degree and 0-3 years professional level experience; or 4+ years professional level related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and professional level related experience
