As a Technical Business Development Manager, you will drive strategic vendor partnerships for our AI initiatives by combining deep technical expertise with business acumen. You will independently manage complex vendor relationships, lead technical discussions, negotiate agreements, and identify opportunities to optimize our 3P vs 1P strategy, while serving as a trusted advisor to both internal stakeholders and customers.

Key job responsibilities
Technical support & Advisory:
Participate in technical discussions between vendors and internal stakeholders
Provide technical expertise in solution design and implementation
Evaluate technical feasibility and strategic fit of vendor solutions
Help translate complex technical requirements into business opportunities

Strategic Business Development:
Support the development and execution of vendor management strategies
Assist in identifying and evaluating 3P vs 1P opportunities
Contribute to creating business models for vendor partnerships
Support program roadmaps and execution excellence

Relationship & Contract Management:
Negotiate and structure complex vendor agreements
Build and maintain strategic relationships with senior vendor executives
Manage customer relationships and expectations
Help track vendor performance and accountability through accurate scorecards and adopting relevant business metrics

Analytics & Performance Management:
Monitor vendor KPIs
Conduct data-driven analysis to support strategic decisions
Contribute to risk mitigation and quality assurance initiatives
Assist in developing performance improvement strategies

Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field
5+ years of experience in technical business development or vendor management
Experience in contract negotiation and vendor relationship management
Strong analytical skills with experience in data-based decision making
Experience working with stakeholders across various levels

Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree (MBA or MS in CS/Engineering)
1+ years experience in Generative AI or related cutting-edge technologies
Demonstrated success in complex vendor negotiations and contract structuring
Experience converting technical solutions into business value
Experience managing difficult customer relationships

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of business development, partnership management, or sourcing new business experience
- 3+ years of developing, negotiating and executing business agreements experience
- Bachelor's degree
- Experience with sales CRM tools such as Salesforce or similar software
- Experience in setting up and managing a sales pipeline

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience interpreting data and making business recommendations
- Experience in online advertising or high-tech products/services

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $74,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $159,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
