Job requirements:
The ideal candidate will diagnose, repair, and maintain RV systems while also performing cosmetic and structural renovations to restore or upgrade campers and RVs to meet customer specifications or industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Diagnosis and Repair
Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair RV mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, including engines, generators, water systems, propane systems, and appliances (e.g., refrigerators, stoves, water heaters).
Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire rotations, brake repairs, and winterization.
Diagnose and repair issues with RV chassis, suspension, and leveling systems.
Restoration and Renovation:
Refurbish and restore vintage or damaged campers/RVs, including interior and exterior components.
Perform structural repairs, such as fixing or replacing walls, floors, roofs, and frames, addressing issues like water damage, rot, or rust.
Upgrade interiors with modern amenities, including cabinetry, flooring, upholstery, lighting, and countertops.
Install or replace windows, doors, awnings, and slide-out mechanisms.
Apply exterior treatments, such as painting, decals, sealing, or fiberglass repair.
System Upgrades and Customization:
Install aftermarket accessories like solar panels, satellite systems, backup cameras, or entertainment systems.
Customize interiors based on client specifications, ensuring functionality and aesthetic appeal.
Retrofit older RVs with energy-efficient appliances or smart home technology.
Customer Interaction and Documentation:
Communicate effectively with clients to understand their needs and provide cost estimates for repairs or renovations.
Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts used, and labor hours.
Provide maintenance advice to RV owners to ensure longevity and performance.
Safety and Compliance:
Ensure all repairs and renovations comply with industry standards, safety regulations.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment, adhering to OSHA standards.
Qualifications and Skills:
Experience:
Minimum of 2-5 years of experience as an RV technician or in a related field (e.g., automotive repair, carpentry, or construction).
We are also hiring a helper as well, as long as you are trainable, coachable and humble to learn and work hard- then apply and we will discuss.
Proven experience in RV restoration and renovation, including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and aesthetic upgrades.
Familiarity with a wide range of RV makes, models, and systems (Class A, B, C, fifth wheels, travel trailers, etc.).
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing RV-specific systems (e.g., 12V/120V electrical, propane, hydraulic leveling).
Knowledge of woodworking, welding, fiberglass repair, and upholstery for restoration projects.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
Experience with tools and equipment used in RV repair and renovation (e.g., power tools, diagnostic equipment, sealants).
Certifications (Preferred but not Required):
RVIA/RVDA Certified RV Technician or equivalent preferred.
Valid drivers license
Additional certifications in welding, electrical systems, or HVAC are a plus.
Soft Skills:
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Excellent time management to meet project deadlines.
Customer-focused with clear communication and professionalism.
Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
Comfortable working outdoors or in varying weather conditions.
Manual dexterity for precise repairs and installations.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Summer job available for helper position
Vocational training or apprenticeship in automotive repair, carpentry, or a related trade is preferred.
Work Environment:
Full-time position with potential for overtime during peak seasons.
Work may be performed in a shop, at customer sites, or on the road for mobile repair services.
Some travel may be required for on-site renovations or emergency repairs.
