Local bidders (CSC employees) will be considered first and must file their bid requests for this position by the Final Filing Date stated on the form with State Human Resources (SHR), using the Post and Bid Request form, SHR 207 (Rev 05/2024). The employee with the greatest amount of continuous local work location seniority in the class shall be selected over other employees and notified of start date. If there are no local bidders, then the selection criteria above in Who May Apply will be utilized.

The California Science Center seeks an Electrician to support the Plant Operations Unit. This is an exciting opportunity to join our team at the California Science Center (CSC), a world-class science museum, that develops and features award-winning exhibits and internationally renowned education programs. The Science Center's workforce includes executive, managerial, supervisory, and administrative classifications, however, rank and file facility maintenance and skilled trades represent approximately fifty-one percent (51%) of its civil service workforce.

Under the supervision of the Electrician Supervisor, the Electrician I perform the assembly, installation, troubleshooting and repair of electric lights, motors, heaters, generators, transformers, switchboards, and other electrical apparatus. The incumbent is responsible for maintaining the electrical shop safe and organized; advising in the selection and storage of electrical equipment, consulting with other trades people, making rough sketches and estimating the cost of minor electrical installations; and the preparation of simple records and reports.
