As a leading water technology company with 23,000 employees operating in over 150 countries, Xylem is at the forefront of addressing the world's most critical water challenges. We invite passionate individuals to join our team, dedicated to exceeding customer expectations through innovative and sustainable solutions.
The Manufacturing Electrical Engineer plays a key role in supporting SonTek's sonar instrumentation production lines through the development of software test applications and electronic test fixture PCA's. This position ensures robust and efficient manufacturing test processes by conducting in-depth analysis through root cause investigations and identifying data correlations to drive continuous improvement. The Engineer is also instrumental in facilitating the transition of new designs into production and resolving technical challenges encountered during manufacturing operations. The candidate is expected to demonstrate leadership in driving solutions and process improvements across manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide technical support for electronics manufacturing lines, troubleshooting product electrical and test-related issues.
Develop, maintain, and enhance automated test programs using LabVIEW.
Design test fixtures and test circuits using PADS and Altium Designer.
Participate in new product introductions, ensuring a smooth transition from design to production, with focus on test strategy and manufacturability.
Implement process improvements to improve quality, reduce cost, and enhance throughput.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including R D, Quality, Operations, and Supply Chain to address technical challenges and sustain production goals.
Create and maintain work instructions, test procedures, and process documentation aligned with ISO and quality standards.
Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for failures in production.
Assist in specifying and integrating new equipment or software tools to improve test and manufacturing capabilities.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or closely related field.
2-5 years of experience in an electronics manufacturing or test engineering role.
Hands-on experience with LabVIEW development, or comparable platform, for test automation and data collection.
Proficiency in PADS, Altium Designer, or comparable design platform for test fixture and PCB design.
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills using standard test equipment (oscilloscopes, DMMs, etc.).
Familiarity with lean manufacturing concepts and root cause analysis tools (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone).
Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly across engineering, production, and quality teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience supporting production test systems for embedded electronics or analog/digital devices.
Development of test software in LabVIEW or comparable platform.
Design PCA's which includes schematic capture and PCB layout.
Exposure to statistical process control analysis.
Understanding of DFT (Design for Testability) and DFM (Design for Manufacturability) best practices.
Work Environment:
- Approximately 70% office and 30% production floor.
- Light lifting required (up to 50 lbs.).
