Manufacturing Electrical Engineer Position:
- MUST HAVE AT LEAST 3 YEARS OF PRIOR ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING EXPERIENCE
- MUST be able to lift 25lbs.
- Occasional Travel Required
Education:
Minimum: EE or BA/BS Engineering or equivalent technical discipline.
Experience:
Experience with the design and manufacture of cable products and an intimate understanding of the use of cable manufacturing equipment such as extruders (thermoplastic and thermoset), cablers, braiders, and tapers. Will provide training.
Experience with design of cable assemblies and operations to support production; cable cutting, cable preparation (stripping, tinning, etc.), connectors, shielding, terminations (crimping, soldering, splicing, etc) and injection molding of thermoplastics and silicone rubber. Will provide training.
Skills:
Ability to work well with multiple project teams from various groups simultaneously.
Knowledge of wire and cable components/construction (conductors, plating, stranding, insulation, lay lengths, shielding, jackets, etc.)
Knowledge of cable electrical characterization: capacitance, inductance, resistance, attenuation, characteristic impedance, skew, etc.
Knowledge of cable test equipment such as spark tester, TDR, LCR, milliohm meter, network analyzer, diameter measure equipment.
Knowledge and experience with industry standards such as UL, CSA, Mil-stds, ASTM, IPC-610, 620
Familiar with assembly test equipment such as Cirris, multi-meter, Hipot.
Possess the ability to solve manufacturing problems.
Capable of reading and interpreting customer drawings or specifications and communicating those requirements to others.
Skilled in the use of Solidworks and AutoCAD.
Fluent knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Duties & Responsibilities:
Design and creation of new designs for cable and assemblies and/or manufacturing capabilities.
Support manufacturing operations, including operators, supervisors, production control, and other manufacturing personnel.
Create assembly instructions, test instructions, electrical test parameters, rework instructions.
Develop electrical test fixture for cable assembly.
Hands on equipment qualification to ensure electrical function per OEM specs. And perform IQ/OQ/PQ.
Support sales staff by offering new capabilities with either innovative products and/or throughput improvement.
Support quality control by providing inspection information and plans necessary to verify that product meets customer requirements. Interpret Military Specs, NEC Code, UL, & CSA requirement.
Recommend new process designs based on customer needs.
Create new process design and/or manufacturing capabilities.
Train personnel from manufacturing on new processes and update instructions.
Data collection and analytical tool.
Troubleshooting test equipment and define current issue/root cause.
Work directly with our customers Engineers, as assigned in the development of new products and processes.
Some travel required to customer sites.
