PAY AND BENEFITS

Annual Pay Range: $67,711.36 - $85,449.91

Hourly Pay Range: $32.553540 - $41.081688 (Plus $1.50 per hour night shift differential - see details below)

Please Note:

Shift Differential Pay: Mechanics whose regularly scheduled shift begins at or after 3:00 pm, shall receive a shift differential of $1.50 per hour additional for all hours worked during their shift.

Tool Allowance: Equipment Services Mechanics are eligible for an annual reimbursement up to $550 for tools used in the course of employment.

Tool Replacement: Mechanic's tools lost in the course of employment and not due to employee's negligence are eligible for replacement.

Merit Increase: After six (6) months of satisfactory employment, employees are eligible for a 3.5% merit increase.

Salary offers will be made within the posted pay range and will be based on a candidate's experience (paid or unpaid) that is directly relevant to the position.

We are seeking a motivated, skilled and team oriented individual to join our team as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic within the Department of Transportation & Development (DTD) / Fleet Services Division. If selected for this position, you will be mainly responsible for maintaining, repairing, modifying, and restoring medium (GVWR 10,500- 26,600 lbs.) and heavy (GVWR greater than 26,000 lbs.) maintenance, construction, and power generation equipment.

Required Minimum Qualifications/ Transferrable Skills:*

A minimum of two (2) years of experience performing routine preventative maintenance on heavy vehicles and equipment

A minimum of two (2) years of experience inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing heavy duty vehicles and heavy equipment

A minimum of two (2) years of experience maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing airbrake systems

A minimum of two (2) years of experience maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing electrical systems

A minimum of two (2) years of experience maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing heavy duty diesel engine drivability and emission systems

Experience reading and interpreting schematics and diagrams

Preferred Special Qualifications/ Transferrable Skills:*

Experience inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing hydraulic systems

At least two (2) years of experience with heavy equipment repair and maintenance

Experience welding and fabricating

Training and/or education in a formal or specialized environment such as Heavy Equipment Maintenance and Technology

Pre-employment Requirements:

Must be available for on-call emergency response

Must pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test (DOT regulations for CDL) Must pass a post-offer physical assessment; accommodation requests will be reviewed on an individual basis in compliance with State and Federal legislation

Driving is required for County business on a regular basis or to accomplish work. Incumbents must possess a valid driver's license, and possess and maintain an acceptable driving record throughout the course of employment. Requirements:

Within 12 Months of Hire: Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with no restrictions in order to drive manual transmission and full air brake vehicles. Incumbent(s) must possess and maintain an acceptable driving record throughout the course of employment.

Duties require frequent standing, walking, kneeling, bending, squatting, balancing, climbing, twisting, reaching, grasping, fine motor control, and the ability to lift 100 pounds, carry up to 75 pounds, and push/pull 75 pounds. Duties also involve frequent exposure to confined spaces, loud noises, vibration, dust, fumes, chemicals, heat, slippery and/or uneven surfaces, adverse weather conditions, poor visibility/low lighting, and working on top of vehicles/equipment.

WORK SCHEDULE

This position is included in the County's alternate workweek program, working 40 hours during a standard workweek of Monday through Thursday (Fridays off). This is a night shift position with the current shift being 3:00 pm - 1:00 am. Specific hours of work will be discussed with the candidate selected for this position at the time an offer of employment is extended.

Please Note: This position is designated as on-site/in-person. It is expected that the selected candidate will perform duties at the specified on-site work location.
