Job Profile

Our Fabrication Shop Foreman is responsible for the day-to-day operation and long-term planning of the fabrication shop. They will oversee and participate in the fabrication of piling material that is built in our Conroe Texas facility, as well as provide guidance to shop personnel, ensuring a high standard of safety and quality that DFI is known for.

Job Duties

Plan and schedule all pile fabrication with the shop team to ensure that project timelines are met.

Create and monitor production goals that are in line with operational requirements.

Provide direct supervision and mentorship to the fabrication shop welders.

Co-ordinate material transportation to the Conroe facility to job sites in collaboration with the project manager and operations manager.

Monitor and maintain piling material inventory levels with direction on target thresholds from the Operations Manager.

Maintain records of all quality activities including (but not limited to) weld logs, Material Traceability Records (MTR) management and Inspection Test Plan's (ITP).

Manage inventory systems including entering pipe tallies and cut/weld entries to ensure 100% accuracy.

Participate in monthly shop and yard inspections, as well as daily tail-gate safety meetings and monthly branch safety meetings.

Understand, implement, and always enforce the company's safety and quality programs.

Always maintain professionalism, tact, diplomacy, and sensitivity to portray the company in a positive manner.

Ensure compliance with all laws and regulations, as well as OSHA and other safety standards that are applicable to our manufacturing facility.

Maintain shop equipment, ensuring repairs and inspections are carried out as needed.

Monitor, authorize and arrange purchase of consumables, PPE, supplies, tools, materials and third-party services performed in the shop with the approval of the Operations Manager.

Participate in incident and near-miss/good catch investigations that are relating to the fabrication facility.

Ensure all training and certifications are up to date for all shop personnel.

Monitor and confirm that the fabrication process is strictly following the applicable welding procedures, and that all welders are qualified to the procedures, including third party vendors.

Occasionally perform fabrication duties as required based on current workload and resource management.

Perform visual weld inspections during the entire fabrication process, including in the shop and field as required, and keeping a detailed log of the inspection process.

Perform quality checks on all fabrication processes to ensure that strict adherence to specifications is met.

Duties will be adjusted depending on business demands.

All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Previous experience with fabrication (5+ years).

AWS Certified Welding Inspector is preferred.

Proficient with computers including all Microsoft Office products.

Experience in a supervisory role, leading a team of 2 or more people in a fabrication setting.

Proficient in reading blueprints and welding procedure specifications, and the ability to transfer printed design data into real life fabrication practices.

Experience with ASTM A252 material is an asset.

Registered Journeyman/Apprentice Welder certification is preferred.

Familiarity with AWS D1.1, A5.20 and A5.29 structural welding code is an asset.

Experience with a quality management system is an asset.

Onsite at the DFI facility in Conroe, Monday through Friday. Some overtime and weekend work could be required based on workload or project scheduling.

Ability to handle physical work in differing environments.

Primarily office/shop setting with occasional field work required.
