Structural Welder**
**Job Description**
Aerotek is seeking experienced structural welders with expertise in fitting, fabrication, and both ship and shop welding. The ideal candidate must be able to pass stick & flux core weld tests and meet all safety requirements, including Firewatch. The position is for the first OR second shift starting at 3 PM. This is a local position that DOES NOT pay per diem
**Responsibilities**
+ Weld together metal components of products as specified by layout, blueprints, diagrams, work orders, welding procedures, or oral instructions using electric arc-welding equipment.
+ Prepare all material surfaces to be welded, ensuring there is no loose or thick scale, slag, rust, moisture, grease, or other foreign matter.
+ Complete welds in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions.
+ Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as gas tungsten arc, gas metal arc, flux-cored arc, plasma arc, shielded metal arc, resistance welding, and submerged arc welding.
+ Manually apply filler rod to supply weld metal.
+ Clean or degrease weld joint or work piece using wire brush, portable grinder, or chemical bath.
+ Repair broken or cracked parts and set up and operate welding equipment, selecting proper electrodes according to metals to be joined or as instructed.
+ Perform grinding and joint preparation for NDT processes.
+ Burning, washing, edge prepping using hand and automated equipment.
+ Perform flux-cored inner shield and dual shield welding along with oxy-acetylene torching, air-arc, weld-wire gas, stick and pipe flange.
+ Construct or repair metal products by joining parts either manually or using automated equipment.
+ Understand and follow Chemist and Competent Persons reports to determine if job sites are safe for personnel and hot work.
+ Mark or tag material with proper job number, piece marks, and other identifying marks as required.
+ Wear personal protective equipment including hard hat, safety glasses, steel toe boots/shoes, and respirator when necessary.
+ Other duties as assigned.
+ Understand and act upon instructions.
+ Work independently to complete responsibilities.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
