Job Title: Estimator
Location: Tulsa, OK

Position Summary:
The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for enclosed controls, packaged equipment systems (such as power distribution centers), and electrical motors. This role requires a thorough understanding of electrical systems and the ability to interpret project drawings and specifications. The Estimator will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including sales, engineering, production, and procurement, to ensure all estimates align with project requirements and deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Estimate Preparation
  • Develop detailed cost estimates for enclosed control systems, packaged equipment systems, and electrical motors based on customer specifications, blueprints, and project plans.
  • Accurately assess material, labor, and time costs for each project.
  • Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing for materials and services.
  • Prepare and submit bid proposals within required deadlines and follow up on outstanding bids with customers as outlined in the companys service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Project Evaluation
  • Review and interpret technical specifications, drawings, and customer requirements to determine project scope.
  • Conduct risk assessments and identify potential cost-saving opportunities during the estimation phase.
  • Provide recommendations and alternative options to enhance cost-effectiveness and project delivery.
  • Collaboration & Communication
  • Liaise with the engineering team to ensure the feasibility of design solutions and compliance with project requirements.
  • Collaborate with sales and project management teams to align estimates with customer expectations and company goals.
  • Maintain clear communication with stakeholders throughout the estimation process, following established processes and procedures.
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to enhance estimation processes and tools for improved accuracy and efficiency.
  • Participate in regular training to stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and best practices.
  • Implement feedback from project post-mortems to refine future estimates and reduce variances.
  • Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain organized records of all estimates, bids, and supporting documentation for future reference.
  • Create detailed reports summarizing estimates, including cost breakdowns, assumptions, and justifications.
  • Provide regular updates to supervisors on the status of bids and proposals.
  • Additional Responsibilities
  • Assist with ad-hoc tasks and special projects as assigned by the supervisor or department head.
  • Ensure all estimates are prepared and delivered within the required deadlines.
  • Provide support to the project management team during project handover and throughout the project lifecycle as needed. Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in estimating, preferably in the electrical controls, power distribution centers, or industrial equipment manufacturing sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, controls, and power distribution equipment.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Experience with estimating software and tools.
