Job Description

We are seeking a hands-on leader to manage the daily operations of a small but dynamic panel-building shop, overseeing a team of 35 employees. This role involves leading and coordinating all day-to-day activities within the panel shop to ensure smooth, efficient, and safe operations. You will supervise the assembly of standard panel designs while maintaining high standards of productivity and product quality. You will also be responsible for designing custom 480V electrical panels that incorporate components such as breakers, starters, VFDs, PLCs, and soft starts. This includes creating detailed engineering drawings and Bills of Materials for manufacturing. Additionally, you will design and manage the production of both stationary and portable Motor Control Centers (MCCs). You will train, mentor, and supervise a diverse team ranging from journeyman electricians to apprentices, and partner with HR on performance reviews, recruitment, and corrective action plans. Safety is a key priority, and you will collaborate with the Safety Manager to promote a strong safety culture and ensure adherence to all safety protocols. You will monitor and manage inventory levels of electrical components and tools, coordinating with procurement and vendors to maintain optimal stock levels. You will work closely with estimating and sales teams to develop accurate cost and timeline projections for upcoming projects, and engage with executive leadership and clients to assess the feasibility of new projects and product lines. Occasionally, you may assist facility maintenance teams with internal electrical issues. This position reports directly to the Director of Engineering and Production.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • 5 years experience in Industrial Electrical Systems with a strong focus on 480V applications
  • Knowledge and experience with panel building, including installation and operation of breakers, starters, VFDs, PLCs, and soft starts
  • Ability to use AutoCAD or other engineering software to design electrical schematics and blueprints
Work Environment

The Electrical Panel Shop oversees a team of 5 electricians who will be building panels. Most of the time is spent working and collaborating with other managers, estimating and creating Bills of Materials, and designing custom schematics and blueprints. The work environment encourages collaboration and engagement with executive leadership, featuring an open-door policy.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $110000.00/yr.

Wage paid bi-weekly.
Eligible for medical, dental, vision and life insurance on the first of the month following thirty
days of active employment. (80% of Health insurance is paid by the employer, all other elected
insurances will be paid by the employee). We have a variety of supplemental insurances
available.
Eligible for the company 401(k) plan after ninety days of active employment. Company matches
up to 5% and there is no vesting period.
Basic Life Insurance paid by the company.
Seven paid holidays a year provided per our policy.
Eligible for PTO accrual. 1st year can earn up to 80 hours, 2nd year can earn up to 120 hours and3rd year going forward can earn up to 160 hours per year.
