Altus Group is currently seeking a candidate in the position of Project Coordinator based out of our Calgary office to join our Development Advisory division. Working with our Project Management team, the Project Coordinator will assist in the provision of project management services by organizing and controlling project activities under the direction of Project Managers & Associate Directors. The Project Coordinator will be responsible for all administrative and technical assistance aspects of the project scope and services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Services: Undertake basic project management services by assisting Project Managers in items that include, but not limited to drafting of project proposals, budgets, cash flows and preliminary schedules and updating programs and contract documentation to track progress and quality of work on project

    • Manage the change management process for all changes during design and construction phases, including, change order tracking, logs, templates and issuance

    • Initiate and seek approvals and documentation to support the change order issuance

    • Coordinate the information from designers, contractors, and clients to ensure timely information exchange

    • Engage in design, management, and construction meetings, including the preparation of detailed meeting minutes

    • Proactively manage project issues on the accounts

    • Maintain excellent communication, coordination and cooperation between all stakeholders including Client, Consultant, Construction, Design, and Client Team

    • Engage in client and project team meetings

    • Engage in client presentations and with external consultant meetings

  • Technical Support: Review site reports and draft monthly update reports for clients as part of billable deliverables

    • Generate project management reports to support the Project Manager(s) and the project deliverables

    • Review, coordinate, and track to ensure contract deliverables are achieved

    • Maintain all project documentation, database, logs and records

    • Assemble, maintain, coordinate and follow up on project action items lists

    • Conduct field reviews and site visits to inspect progress (some overnight travel may be required)

  • Administrative Support: Supporting management by providing general project administration such as chasing invoices and ensuring that the project filing, and archiving are maintained and up to date as per the Project Management Approach (PMA) standards

    • Maintain best practices templates on Altus Group PMA

    • Demonstrate an understanding of the scope of work related to the project(s)

    • Consult coordination with other services lines and business units as required

    • Manage client relationships to lead to renewal, referrals, and service expansion

Key Requirements:

  • Graduate from a Diploma/Degree program in Accounting, Business, Architectural, Project Management, Construction or Civil Technology, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Building Science or in a related field

  • 1+ years of practical experience in commercial real estate or related field

  • General understanding of residential/commercial/civil developments projects throughout the full development lifecycle

  • Basic project management skills required with knowledge and understanding of commercial and contractual issues

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with executive level internal and external clients

  • Organizational and detailed-oriented with the ability to prioritize and manage differing needs of the business

  • Demonstrates proficiency in the use and application of all project management technology as required for assigned projects

  • Proven proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Word

  • Understanding of the construction industry; development, contracting & consultant services

  • Construction accounting experience or previous real estate support roles for brokers or project managers is an asset

  • Basic understanding of standard forms of contracts for construction and real estate industry
