    GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
    Under general supervision, the Maintenance III position performs skilled work in general maintenance across district facilities, with a primary focus on electrical systems. This role is responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing electrical issues, ensuring that all electrical systems and components are in optimal working condition. The Maintenance III position may also perform repairs and installations related to HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems as needed. The position requires advanced knowledge of electrical systems, with a focus on addressing electrical work orders and responding to urgent electrical issues. This position ensures that district facilities are maintained in a safe and efficient manner for students, staff, and visitors. Reports to the Coordinator of Maintenance.
    SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
    • Performs skilled maintenance work, primarily focused on troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing electrical systems, including wiring, lighting, circuit boards, and electrical panels.
    • Leads and participates in electrical repairs and installations across district facilities, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and codes.
    • Responds to electrical work orders, prioritizing urgent electrical repairs such as power outages, wiring issues, and malfunctioning electrical components.
    • Troubleshoots and diagnoses electrical problems, determines the necessary repairs or replacements, and executes corrective actions promptly.
    • Assists with general maintenance work in other areas, including HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems, as needed based on district requirements.
    • Coordinates and prioritizes daily work orders, ensuring that all maintenance needs, especially electrical, are addressed efficiently and in a timely manner.
    • Assists in setting up and maintaining preventive maintenance schedules, ensuring all electrical systems are routinely inspected and serviced.
    • Provides leadership and guidance to junior maintenance staff, ensuring electrical tasks are completed safely and within required timeframes.
    • Inspects facilities for electrical safety hazards, such as exposed wiring or faulty circuits, and coordinates necessary repairs to maintain a safe environment.
    • Maintains accurate records of completed electrical maintenance tasks, including parts used, time spent, and repairs made.
    • Operates and maintains a variety of electrical maintenance tools and equipment, including electrical testing devices and hand tools.
    • Assists in the procurement of materials and tools needed for electrical maintenance and ensures that the necessary inventory is maintained.
    • Provides training to junior maintenance staff on best practices, electrical safety, and procedures related to electrical work.
    • Collaborates with other departments and administrators to address electrical maintenance needs and respond to electrical emergencies.
    • Ensures compliance with district policies, safety protocols, and electrical regulations related to facility maintenance.
    • Attends required training sessions to stay updated on electrical codes, technologies, and safety procedures.
    ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS
    • Remains on call for emergency electrical maintenance needs after regular working hours.
    • Assists with moving heavy furniture or equipment as needed for electrical installations or repairs.
    • Performs other related duties as required to ensure effective facility maintenance.

    MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE Requires a high school diploma or equivalent, supplemented by vocational training in electrical systems or a related field, and at least five years of experience in electrical maintenance or facility operations. A combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered. Must possess a valid driver's license issued by the state of South Carolina. Electrical certification or licensure is preferred.
    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
    Physical Requirements:
    Requires light-to-medium work involving walking, standing, lifting (up to 50 pounds), and using tools requiring hand-eye coordination. Regular exertion of force is required for some tasks.
