PURPOSE
The Field Services Logistics Operator is responsible for planning and assigning all work for all field resources utilized in EPB operations. This includes both planned and emergency-response work. This position is also responsible for real-time assignment changes to maintain maximum efficiency and effectiveness while meeting changing priorities.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
- Efficient scheduling of all field resources to meet deadlines and maximize operational efficiency. This includes scheduling work for the linemen, troubleshooters, electricians, installers, technicians, tree trimmers, etc.
- Schedule work for both the electric system and the communication system. Work that requires immediate dispatch should be assigned as soon as possible after it is initiated. This includes trouble, emergency maintenance, and rush orders.
- Maintain and execute various maintenance programs, including vegetation planning and trimming, substation maintenance, underground/downtown maintenance, line inspection, and substation inspection.
- Determine when to call in additional resources or let employees go home during emergency response times. This group is responsible for contacting operational departments' supervisory teams and coordinating additional resources based on the current work volume.
- Contact customers to schedule or coordinate work as needed.
- Monitor progress on assignments and take action to address any issues. This may be by communicating directly with field employees or working with the operational departments' supervisory team.
- Proactively work with operations staff on reporting any personnel performance concerns.
- Help to resolve customer issues; negotiate with customers as needed.
- Plan staffing and needed resources in advance to meet work order commitments while maintaining productivity measures. Proactively aware of upcoming deadlines and secures resources needed to complete. Coordinates in a timely manner with operational departments' supervisory team when additional resources are needed in order to complete planned work.
- Required to work with multiple skill sets, assisting those skill sets with phone calls, simple tickets, emails, regular workday coverage, and storm coverage.
- Effectively communicate information from the field with customers or other departments on what is needed to be performed for planned or emergency work to be completed.
- Suggest ideas to improve or create new processes and procedures and discuss them with the immediate management team.
- Available to work 24/7/365 - Shift Work; Regular work hours include evenings, overnights, and weekends; Overtime is required - mainly during storms or other system events. Working on holidays for operational needs may be required.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
- Associate's degree with a background in industrial technology or logistics is preferred.
- Capable of planning and assigning all types of work for all types of resources at EPB for maximum total operational efficiency.
- Proficiency in all EPB business system applications used to plan, assign, execute, and monitor work. These systems include PragmaCAD (mobile workforce management), EnQuesta, Omnia, OMS, G Tech, GT Viewer, RESCO SPAN, and any other applications used in daily operations.
- Knowledge of basic office systems such as Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge and experience with electric and communication system operations and processes is preferred.
CERTIFICATION(S) and OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license in state of residence and demonstrate safe and responsible operation of motor vehicles.
- Ability to write, read, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to complete required reports, written and on the computer.
- Ability to define problems, collect data (sometimes ambiguous), establish facts, be decisive, and make complicated decisions and conclusions. Must be able to interpret various technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business documentation related to meter installation and Meter Reading. Must be able to effectively communicate information and respond to questions from management, field personnel, customers, and the general public clearly and concisely.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS - ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- The work environment typically represents a standard office setting.
- At times, the work will require detailed analysis and planning to schedule work for optimum efficiency. At other times, the environment will be stressful as assignments are made to deal with system emergencies.
- The regular work hours for this position will include evenings, overnights, and weekends.
- Overtime is required, mainly during storms or other system events.
