Structural Engineer

We are seeking a Civil/Structural Project Engineer with a P.Eng who possesses expertise in concrete engineering. As a Structural Project Engineer, you will provide technical leadership, oversee engineering deliverables, and produce high-quality engineering outputs for both internal and external clients. Your responsibilities will encompass feasibility assessments, conceptual evaluations, design scope documents, detailed designs, calculations, design reviews, construction support documents, and project closeout reports. You will work on diverse projects including downtown networks, substations, distribution, and transmission projects, with a focus on designs for manholes, duct banks, and substation foundations.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple projects from scoping stage through design, construction, and completion of records.
• Define solutions to technical challenges in collaboration with stakeholders and provide guidance to external consultants.
• Review technical deliverables with other Structural Project Engineers or the Team Lead.
• Design in-house solutions using bridge engineering design codes for standards comparison.
• Review designs from design consultants and external companies.
• Ensure compliance with civil standards and codes, particularly bridge codes.
• Coordinate design efforts with EPC firms.
• Consult on Requests for Information during construction phases.

• 4+ years of experience as a structural/civil engineer.
• P.Eng in civil/structural engineering.
• Experience in design and ability to stamp documents.
• Understanding and experience in road or bridge construction.
• Experience working with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers.
• Sound knowledge of civil standards and codes, with strong emphasis on bridge codes.
• P.Eng status with The Association of Professionals in Engineering and Geoscience in Alberta (APEGA).
• Extensive experience with reinforced concrete assessment, design, and repair.

• Knowledge and use of CSA S6: Bridge Code and RISA structural design software.
• Experience with reinforced concrete design.
• High level of knowledge of industry codes and standards.
• Past city utility civil/structural design experience.

You will work within a team of three other structural engineers and interact frequently with other engineering groups and the construction team. Site visits may be required to provide support and clarification to teams on site. The position offers steady work with the potential to transition to a full-time role after one year.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $65.00/hr.
