Project Scheduler

**Our client in New Brunswick, Saint John is looking for a qualified Project Scheduler on a contract to support the heavy industrial project. This is fully on site and not a remote work**

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a Level 3 project schedule using P6, covering over 2,000 activities and 1M+ direct work hours.
  • Participate in project decision-making related to scheduling, cost control, and execution planning.
  • Supervise and coordinate with project planners, ensuring alignment between field activities and progress tracking systems.
  • Conduct field tours to validate schedule accuracy and gather real-time progress updates.
  • Integrate inputs from all disciplines into a comprehensive, resource-loaded schedule.
  • Perform Critical Path Method (CPM) and Earned Value Management (EVM) analysis to monitor project health.
  • Generate and maintain Earned Value curves, S-curves, and dashboard reports for internal and client review.
  • Update the schedule weekly, capturing impacts of completed, delayed, or resequenced work.
  • Conduct what-if scenario analysis and resource leveling to support decision-making.
  • Evaluate changes in construction sequencing and assess their impact on project timelines.
  • Provide input to discipline leads on priority workstreams and recommend corrective actions.
  • Prepare cost and schedule proposals for change orders and support payment application processes.
  • Track and forecast job costs, revenue, and cash flow in coordination with the cost control team.
  • Monitor and report on critical path activities and deviations affecting project delivery.
  • Collaborate with trade supervision (foremen/general foremen) to gather field updates.
  • Support the preparation of client-facing reports in a cost-reimbursable contract environment.
  • Perform other related duties as required to support overall project success.
Essential Skills
  • Proven experience as a lead or core scheduler, ideally having built schedules from scratch.
  • Experience in project planning.
  • Industrial experience, including mechanical and/or piping in heavy industrial environments.
  • Experience with large, multi-million-dollar projects.
  • Proficiency in P6 software.
  • Capability to produce Earned Value curves and S-curves.
  • Ability to generate dashboard reviews.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Self-motivated and proactive.
  • Comfortable engaging with clients in a cost-reimbursable contract setting.
  • Familiarity with previous work with specific contractors or projects.
  • Canadian project experience.
Work Environment

This position requires daily on-site work. You will work from a complex/trailer alongside a 68 person planning team. Initially reporting to a Project Manager, then a Cost Control Lead, you will interact with trade supervision. The schedule may include 4x10s or 5x8s (40 hours/week), with potential to move to 5x10s during execution. The culture is entrepreneurial, transparent, and team-oriented, providing direct access to decision-makers and a strong sense of ownership.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $80.00 - $90.00/hr.
