Project Manager

Job Description

Our major client is seeking a skilled Project Manager to join an integrated project team focused on electrical infrastructure upgrades and maintenance. This role involves managing a portfolio of small to mid-sized projects, ranging from a few thousand to several hundred thousand dollars, primarily within the transmission and distribution (T&D) space. The ideal candidate brings strong project management expertise, excellent time management, and a background in electrical systems, particularly substations.

Responsibilities:

• Manage 5+ programs simultaneously, each containing 620 smaller projects
• Oversee upgrades and maintenance projects (not new substation builds)
• Coordinate equipment replacements: transformers, switches, relays, poles, duct banks, network protectors, and panels
• Ensure proactive communication and issue escalation
• Handle project administration: change orders, cost tracking, scheduling, and documentation
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, construction, and engineering

Essential Skills:

• 810 years of industry experience in T&D or utilities
• Hands-on substation experience (e.g., battery pack swaps, switchgear, relay panels)
• Proven ability to manage multiple small-scale projects
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Experience with equipment change-outs from a project management perspective
• Solid administrative project management skills

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• Electrical Engineering background (strongly preferred)
• Experience with underground distribution networks in high-traffic urban areas
• Familiarity with City of Calgary regulations and processes
• PMP or P.Eng certification

The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $70.00/hr.
