Help

Temporary Motor Vehicle Operors perform a variety of vehicle and equipment operion and general maintenance duties for the Roads, Trails, and Grounds crew. The majority of your duties will involve snow removal and ski trail grooming.

You required to opere light and heavy trucks with various plow styles to remove snow from roads and parking lots. You will use snow blowers and snow shovels to clear walkways and doorways. You must be able to opere a snowmobile and ski trail groomer to maintain ski trails. You will work outside in some of the snowiest and cold conditions anywhere in the nion. Operion of tractors with snow blower tachments required from time to time. You may also be assigned projects reled to operion of dump trucks, trailers, tractor and tachments, front end loader, and chainsaws.

Performs construction projects utilizing initiive, working alone, or with assistance. On-site determinion of methods to accomplish tasks assigned your responsibility. Instructions of a general nure times and either verbal or written. Many tasks call for innovion and initiive. You may be required to perform work alone for extended amounts of time.

May opere various types of power equipment. Clears snow by hand from sidewalks and other entries and exits. Follows all Standard Opering Procedures and uses principles of Operional Leadership in decision process. Recommends safety improvements and actively participes in the park's safety program. Exposure to steep slopes, high winds, and hazardous ground conditions.

Area Informion:

Government Housing not available. Pictured Rocks Nional Lakeshore is loced in Michigan's Upper Peninsula on the south shore of Lake Superior between the communities of Munising (populion 1800) and Grand Marais. The park encompasses 42 miles of Lake Superior shoreline and is renowned for its colorful sandstone cliffs, miles of beaches, werfalls and streams, inland lakes, 100 miles of trails and the 1874 Au Sable Light Stion. Summers are generally warm and pleasant. The area is rich in public lands and outdoor opportunities. The duty stions for these positions are in Munising and Grand Marais. Government housing may be available for rent in Grand Marais. Amenities in Munising include grocery and convenience stores, medical clinic, and K-12 schools. Complete shopping and a regional medical center are in Marquette, Michigan, 43 miles west of Munising. Grand Marais has a populion of less than 250 people and shopping is limited. SCREEN OUTS :

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : I have experience th demonstres the ability to perform work as a motor vehicle operor and assisting journey-level, or other higher graded workers; my experience included work such as opering gasoline or diesel-powered heavy equipment, the use of motor vehicles of a gross vehicle weight up to 26,000 pounds to transport merial to and from the work site; opering trucks of a gross vehicle weight up to 26,000 pounds with snowplows. I have experience in the construction, repair and upkeep of wildlife boundary fences, as well as in equipment and building maintenance and trail and road repair projects. My work is spot-checked by supervisor and evalued for quality and neness.

DRIVER'S LICENSE :

This position requires th the incumbent possess a valid Driver's License.

Physical Demands: Modere physical effort may be required in making couplings between the vehicle and towed equipment. Considerable physical effort may be required in backing of vehicles, to change tires, and make limited emergency repairs. Required to frequently lift items weighing over 50 pounds. Work also involves climbing of ladders, scaffolding, and working in and around power tools and equipment.

Working Conditions: Incumbent is required to work outside and is exposed to extreme hot and cold temperures. Operes vehicles in all types of traffic and weher on public roads and is exposed to the danger of serious accidents.
