Certified Welder, Maintenance

The opportunity:

This position supports the maintenance and repair of machines and equipment throughout the mill. Assist other crafts and maintenance personnel in the performance of work outside of Welder duties and responsibilities as assigned. Successful applicants will be required to complete training and certification in a second craft..

• Participate in all department safety programs.
• Flexibility to work in a multi-craft role and contribute to accomplishing results in a team- based environment.
• Good understanding of the types and application of equipment lubrication.
• Effective troubleshooting abilities.
• Ability to read and understand equipment manuals & drawings.
• Ability to properly document repairs and inspections.
• Computer skills adequate to look up bill of materials & stores parts, enter work results, and complete work orders.
• Good working knowledge of rigging equipment and techniques.
• Ability to measure, lay out, and fabricate repair parts.

What you need to succeed:

• Associates degree in welding technology.
• Completion of a specialized program of study in welding at a vocational high school, technical school or community college.
• Completion of a U.S. Armed Forces training program in welding.
• Completion of welding training as part of formal mechanical/technical education.
• Certified welder certification or equivalent via OJT, prior experience, or a combination of two.
• Successful applicants will be required to satisfactorily complete ASME performance qualification tests.
