Control Electrician

Job Summary:

Installation, operation, programming, and maintenance and repair of computerized energy management control systems (i.e., Johnson controls, Seimens, Trane), including installation of necessary software upgrades, systems scheduling and programming, and systems hardware repairs and maintenance. Install and modify controls and instrumentation systems including low voltage and communication wiring. Utilize computerized energy management control systems to operate campus wide HVAC, lighting systems and equipment in as energy efficient manner as possible. Assist in laying out, evaluating, and estimating costs of job request which best suits the hospitals needs. Perform calibration of commercial and industrial electronic instruments including sensing elements, transmitters, transducers and other devices. Plan, design and install complete controls systems on new or renovation projects based on the needs of the specific project and required time frames. Commission the installation of HVAC equipment on new and renovated projects. Monitor the energy management system to ensure efficient operation and integrity. Repair and trouble shoot HVAC systems as assigned. Provide training and support to users of energy management system. Perform related duties as required. Must have willingness to work for the best interest of the hospital and with due consideration for patients. Must be able to work under emergency conditions and difficult situations. Demonstrates knowledge and skills to appropriately communicate and interact with the patients, families, and visitors of all age groups while being sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs.

Performance Expectations

  • Demonstrates the ability to plan and install control systems and devices based on construction documents.
  • Demonstrates the ability to trouble shoot routine control and electrical issues and provide corrective measures.
  • Demonstrates the ability to perform assigned control system repairs to building systems such as air handler controls, room controls, chilled water controls and issues related to the building automation system as well as make repairs to equipment.
  • Demonstrates the aptitude to analyze control system electrical installations and their compliance with standard practice.

Qualifications:

Education/Skills

High school Diploma or GED required.

Work Experience:

At least three years of experience in control trade with a proven record of reliability required. At least one year of experience in HVAC is also required.

Certification/Licensure-DUE UPON HIRE

  • Valid Driver's License
  • Maintain a Good Driving Record

Mental Demands:

Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions; read and follow blueprints; read and troubleshoot wiring schematics, cooperate with others, demonstrate initiative, ability to react and yet remain calm in emergency situations.
