NUMBER OF POSITIONS: One Position (non-supervisory), to be filled at either the Assistant, Associate, or Senior level, dependent on education and work experience.

LOCATION: Vacaville, CA

POSITION SUMMARY:

The general duties of the position will be to perform or assist with general civil engineering tasks including but not limited to capital improvement projects, water management, flood management and creek restoration duties. This position may assist and conduct field inspections of the Agencys infrastructure and facilities; participate in scientific studies; and performs related work as required. More specific duties of the position will include compiling of data, participating in surveying activities, preparation and review of engineering plans, specifications and estimates and other duties as needed to support the Water Agencys member agencies and Strategic Plan. Depending on experience, the position may also be overseeing and/or lead day-to-day activities of Water Resource Engineering Interns, to carry out some of the simpler functions above. The position will also consist of a blend of office and field activities. Initial projects the Water Resources Engineer may be involved with include:

· Preparation and/or processing of bid package for facility improvements at the Putah Diversion Dam.

· Assist with surveying activities.

· Obtaining cost estimates from contractors for various small projects.

· Coordination with contractors to complete field-related tasks.

· Assist with grant management and tracking of invoices.

· Assist with development and itemization of flood management activities.

· Conduct flow measurements in or adjacent to lakes, streams, canals, and tidal channels within Napa, Yolo, and Solano Counties.

· Oversee and manage consultant teams.

The Water Agency welcomes candidates with a broad range of technical experience, from recent graduates with relevant internships or academic experience to seasoned professionals with extensive expertise.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills, work effectively across departments, and thrive in a team-oriented environment. The role requires the ability to work independently, with a preference for self-starters who take an initiative. Collaboration is key, both internally and with external partners.

A customer service mindset is essential to support SCWAs 11 member agencies and address the water resource needs of Solano County. Strong project management skills and the ability to balance multiple priorities are also critical for success in this role.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Any combination of training and experience, which would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities, is qualifying. License and Certification requirements are included in the respective Job Descriptions. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
· Assistant Water Resources Engineer : Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in civil engineering or a related engineering field.
· Associate Water Resources Engineer : Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in civil engineering or a related engineering field. A minimum of two (2) years of experience in general civil engineering and/or water resources. Possession of a graduate degree and/or related certification(s) may be counted toward the required experience. Possession of registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of California is preferred.
· Senior Water Resources Engineer : Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in civil engineering or a related engineering field. A minimum of five (5) years of experience in general civil engineering and/or water resources. Possession of a graduate degree and/or related certification(s) may be counted toward the required experience. Possession of registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of California is required. Terms of PE license requirements may be negotiated at the discretion of the Agency.
