MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or GED Certificate.

Level 1 Wastewater Certification preferred (required to obtain within 1 year from date of hire).

1-2 years experience in Water/Wastewater construction/operations.

1-2 years experience in Water/Wastewater construction technology.

Excellent communication skills and customer service.

Valid Driver's License, CDL Learner's Permit or CDL Class "A" with Hazmat & Tanker Endorsement (subject to motor vehicle record review). Learners permit is to be validated to a CDL Class "A" with Hazmat & Tanker Endorsement within (6) months from date of employment.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:

Works with the staff in performing required maintenance on NTUA's wastewater systems and mainlines for the treatment plants.

Utilizing the technical televise camera unit and troubleshoots the wastewater/sewage blockages, cracks in the wastewater pipes/connection, and other related wastewater piping system.

Develops and schedules the annual wastewater maintenance and inspection, wastewater treatment/lagoon systems and manhole inspections programs for the department.

Involved in providing the specifications and cost estimates of project materials and assists the districts with construction estimates.

Coordinates with appropriate NTUA staff the work activities relating to the large customer on water/sewage work order and maintenance plans.

Ensures the assigned equipment is maintained and in operation for the scheduled projects, and responsible for orientating and training of operators.

Provide training to NTUA employees and staff on the work requirements for the wastewater cleaning and troubleshooting for large customers and other related task within the wastewater industry.

Ensures all applicable safety requirements are met to maintain safe working conditions and safe operation of equipment.

Oversees projects such as sewer manhole cleaning, grit chamber cleaning at Wastewater Treatment Plants utilizing the Vacuum Sewer Machines, and utilizes special televise equipment to pinpoint obstructions in sewer lines.

Participates in developing budget preparation by providing project schedules, estimates for each project, equipment maintenance and requirements to support the budget.

Coordinate with Navajo Nation entities; NECA, NHA, BIA, IHS, and contractors on projects and work schedule relating to Water/Wastewater systems.

Involved and participates in development of policies and procedures for compliance of domestic water and wastewater systems.

Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
