Custom Cabinet Maker/Supervisor

The Custom Cabinet Maker/Supervisor oversees daily operations, production schedules, and project timelines; ensuring products meet quality standards and client specifications; mentoring and training junior craftsmen; managing inventory and coordinating with suppliers; creating and modifying cabinet renderings using software; and developing project sketches, technical drawings, and cut lists. Strong leadership, technical expertise, and communication skills are essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Team Management: Supervise and mentor a team of skilled cabinetmakers, finishers, and installers, fostering a positive and productive work environment.

Production Oversight: Plan and coordinate production schedules, ensuring projects are completed on time and meet quality standards and client specifications.

Technical Expertise: Interpret blueprints and shop drawings, oversee the use of woodworking machinery and tools, and troubleshoot production issues.

Inventory and Resource Management: Manage inventory levels, coordinate material orders, and control production costs.

Quality Control: Implement and maintain quality control standards throughout all production phases, ensuring products meet high-quality standards and client expectations.

Safety Compliance: Enforce safety regulations, maintain a safe and organized workspace, and ensure proper personal protective equipment is worn.

Client and Supplier Relations: Communicate with clients and contractors to ensure accurate execution of designs, and coordinate with suppliers for timely material procurement.

Budget Management: Monitor and control production costs to stay within budgetary goals.

Process Improvement: Implement process improvements and training programs to enhance productivity and efficiency.

Problem Solving: Identify and resolve production issues, implementing solutions to improve efficiency and minimize delays.

Training and Development: Train and mentor junior staff on proper techniques, safety protocols, and best practices.

Performance Management: Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to team members.

Skills and Qualifications:

Woodworking Expertise: Strong knowledge of woodworking techniques, materials, and machinery.

Project Management: Ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and budgets.

Leadership Skills: Ability to motivate and lead a team, delegate effectively, and resolve conflicts.

Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with clients, suppliers, and team members.

Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify and resolve production issues, troubleshoot technical problems, and implement solutions.

Organizational Skills: Ability to manage inventory, coordinate resources, and maintain a clean and organized workspace.

Technical Drawing Interpretation: Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and other technical documents.

Safety Awareness: Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices for woodworking environments.

Software Proficiency: Experience with CAD/CAM software, such as Cabinet Vision, can be beneficial.

Inventory Management: Ability to manage inventory levels and coordinate with suppliers for timely material procurement.
