Mechanical Design Engineer
Job Description

We are seeking a talented Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team, contributing to the design of components from initial concept through to production. This role involves using engineering tools such as 3D CAD and analysis packages to ensure the functionality and reliability of designs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement functionality and reliability tests for designs.
  • Design special test equipment or fixtures for testing purposes.
  • Create methods and procedures for testing components.
  • Solve design, manufacture, function, and reliability problems of equipment.
  • Gather data from various sources to determine the cause of issues.
  • Employ structured problem-solving techniques to address component-related issues.
  • Collaborate with the Manufacturing Engineering group to develop component manufacturing processes.
  • Work directly with suppliers on the specification, development, and application of purchased parts.
  • Assist support personnel in the fabrication and testing of components.
  • Ensure parts conform to specifications by working with the quality control group.
  • Develop quality plans for parts.
  • Travel to customer sites to oversee installations, inspect equipment, test components, and advise on equipment repairs.
  • Directly work with customers to resolve performance and reliability issues.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • BSME or related engineering field with three or more years of related experience.
  • Experience in designing major components of food processing equipment.
  • Experience in the design of sheet metal, machined, extruded, cast, and molded parts.
  • Understanding of welding and design and specification of weldments.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents and governmental regulations.
  • Strong report writing and business correspondence skills.
  • Effective presentation skills and ability to respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the public.
Work Environment

This role is based in a 50,000 square foot manufacturing facility with an engineering office and workstation. Minimal travel is required, allowing for a stable work-life balance. The company offers freedom to design new equipment, providing diversified and fulfilling projects in a solid and steady work environment.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $50.00/hr.
