Civil Engineer
Job Description

As a Senior Civil Engineer, you will be entrusted with designing and planning production for general civil projects, which include site layouts, horizontal and vertical control, grading and drainage, paving, site utilities, and associated civil engineering activities. You will perform quantity calculations, prepare specifications and contract documents, and conduct permitting tasks. This role requires you to handle complex assignments, exercise judgment in evaluating, selecting, and modifying standard engineering techniques and procedures. You will serve as a technical expert with recognized authority in a specialization area to resolve problems of greater scope and complexity. You will also plan and develop projects or design activities that significantly impact major company programs and organize and supervise the work of a medium to large staff of professionals and technicians. Additionally, you will serve as a Project Manager on larger projects, although project management is not the sole focus of this position.

Responsibilities

  • Design and plan production for general civil projects, including site layouts, grading, drainage, paving, and site utilities.
  • Perform quantity calculations and prepare specifications and contract documents.
  • Conduct permitting and perform complex assignments using judgment in engineering techniques.
  • Serve as a technical expert to resolve complex problems in specialized areas.
  • Plan and develop impactful projects or design activities.
  • Organize and supervise work of medium to large staff of professionals and technicians.
  • Serve as a Project Manager on larger projects as needed.
Essential Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Minimum of 10 years design experience managing various civil/site design projects.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, MicroStation, InRoads, and other civil engineering software.
  • Project Engineering and Project Management experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Skills in Civil 3D, AutoCAD, design, land development, drainage, grading, stormwater, site development, and site design.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • EIT certification.
  • Commitment to being an active participant in an employee-owned culture.
  • Teamwork and civil land development experience.
Work Environment

This position is based in an office setting, offering the chance to work with the largest engineering firm in PHX, a national player in the industry.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
