Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technician

Job Description

Join an innovative team dedicated to building a cutting-edge clean-energy production unit. As an Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technician, you will play a crucial role in bridging mechanical assembly with instrumentation and controls wiring, ensuring the smooth operation of R&D and pilot equipment. This hands-on position is fast-paced and directly contributes to decarbonizing heavy industry as we develop our first scale production unit.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble piping, gearboxes, structural frames, and sheet-metal enclosures according to 3-D models, drawings, and P&IDs.
  • Route harnesses, crimp connectors, and land field devices ranging from 24 V480 V into PLC marshalling panels.
  • Perform continuity and insulation-resistance checks, leak tests, and functional instrument calibrations; diagnose faults using multimeter, scope, or PLC diagnostics.
  • Support engineering change-orders and quick-turn re-work on evolving prototypes; fabricate or machine simple brackets and test fixtures as needed.
  • Maintain accurate build logs, red-line drawings, and update BOMs; communicate issues during daily stand-ups and directly with leads and engineers as needed.
  • Enforce safety protocols, including LOTO, PPE, and hazardous-gas protocols; maintain cleanliness and organization of work cells.
  • Travel up to 10% for system FAT/SATs or customer-site installations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
  • 5+ years of experience in building or maintaining industrial equipment, test stands, or process skids.
  • Proficient in reading mechanical drawings and electrical schematics/wiring diagrams.
  • Hands-on experience with standard shop and electrical tools, including tube-benders, torque wrenches, crimpers, multimeters, and insulation testers.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and work comfortably in PPE, such as steel toes, flame-retardant clothing, and respirators when required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to thrive amid rapid changes and incomplete data.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, as well as chat and teleconferencing platforms like Teams and Slack.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED; technical trade certificate or military electro-mechanical training strongly preferred.
Work Environment

This position is based onsite at the Woodinville pilot facility, operating on a night/2nd shift schedule from 1:30 pm to 12:00 am, Monday through Thursday, following a 4 10's schedule. Expect periodic weekend push periods during critical builds, and up to 10% domestic travel for installation and commissioning.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $35.00/hr.
