Job Description
Job Title: Cybersecurity Architect
Location: Rockville, MD (Hybrid: 3 Days Onsite / 2 Days Remote)
Experience: 10+years Must
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Cybersecurity Architect to support a federal contract. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining secure cloud-based systems, with a particular focus on the Azure cloud environment . This is a hybrid position requiring 3 days onsite and 2 days remote each week.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain cybersecurity architecture and documentation for Client Azure-based systems.
- Design and implement security frameworks, controls, and best practices in accordance with NIST, FISMA, and Client -specific policies.
- Conduct risk assessments and threat modelling for cloud-hosted applications and infrastructure.
- Collaborate with IT, DevOps, and cloud teams to ensure secure system architecture and integration.
- Provide expert guidance on access control, data protection, network security, and incident response.
- Ensure compliance with federal cybersecurity standards and support security audits and reviews.
- Lead security reviews of new technologies and tools introduced into the Client environment.
- Stay current with evolving cybersecurity threats, mitigation techniques, and government compliance requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor s or master s degree in computer science, Cybersecurity, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in cybersecurity roles, with at least 5+ years as a Security Architect .
- Experience working in federal government environments , preferably at HHS agencies.
- Strong knowledge of Azure security architecture , tools, and services (e.g., Azure Defender, Sentinel, Security Center).
- Familiarity with NIST 800-53 , FISMA , FedRAMP , and RMF
- Proficiency in cloud-native security , identity and access management (IAM) , network segmentation , and zero trust architecture .
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Certifications preferred: CISSP, CCSP, Azure Security Engineer (AZ-500), or similar .
