Purpose

Lead Area Resource Operations team, ensuring high standards in safety, production, consistency, and quality across all activities. Supervise all aspects of logging road and harvest unit design and layout, including GIS mapping. Responsible for contract administration for forest road operations, ensuring compliance and efficient execution. Develop and manage detailed budgets and operational plans to guide operations activities and resource allocation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise, schedule and mentor personnel in the safe work of forest operations including the location, design, and field staking of forest roads and landings, adhering to the Private Forest Accord (PFA) and Oregon Forest Practices Act regulations
  • Monitor consistency in direct reports work and communicate company values and objectives
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills, effectively engaging with both internal Resources personnel and external private individuals and government agencies
  • Manage the development of annual operations plans, including strategic planning for road construction, surfacing, property line surveying, and timber harvesting
  • Manage forest operations to achieve budgetary targets
  • Prepare detailed monthly budgets and variance reports related to forest road operations
  • Provide guidance concerning BLM Reciprocal Right of Way Agreements in the execution of tasks associated with accessing near-term harvest. .
  • Assist Right of Way team as needed in road use fee calculations, swap out calculations, terms and condition letters for BLM timber sales and developing license agreements
  • Contract administration on road construction, property line surveys, road maintenance, quarry operations and road surfacing projects
  • Represent the company in meetings with neighbors, Forest Practices Foresters, BLM and USFS representatives
  • Communicate company values to and cooperate with local landowners and agencies
  • Deliver presentations to internal and external groups as needed
  • Collaborate on interdisciplinary projects with cross-functional teams
  • Be safety conscience in all aspects of job, promote safety program for employees supervised.
  • Understand OSHA rules as they apply to logging and road construction
  • Perform cost analyses for logging, roading and rocking alternatives
  • Apply basic understanding of survey law, including adverse possession, rules of evidence, and deed interpretation
  • Assist in other forest related activities, including forest fire suppression

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Forest Engineering, Forest Operations, Civil Engineering or a related resource field and 10 years of experience in forest field engineering, forest operations, and performing cost analyses for road and logging alternatives; or an equivalent amount of training, education, and experience
  • Be safety conscience in all aspects of job
  • Physically capable of working productively on steep and adverse terrain in all weather conditions
  • Highly organized, self motivated team player that fosters a positive work environment
  • Must have upward management potential
