Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and driven Fire Protection Project Manager to oversee both fire alarm and fire sprinkler system projects from planning through final turnover. This role involves managing field teams, subcontractors, and vendors, while ensuring that all installations are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with all applicable codes.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage multiple fire protection projects simultaneously (alarm, sprinkler, and/or special hazard).
- Review project specifications, drawings, and contracts to determine scope of work.
- Develop and manage project schedules, material procurement, budgets, and manpower needs.
- Coordinate with engineering teams, clients, subcontractors, AHJs, and internal departments.
- Ensure compliance with NFPA standards (NFPA 13, 20, 25, 72), building codes, and local fire/life safety requirements.
- Supervise field crews and subcontractors to ensure quality control and safety on job sites.
- Prepare and review submittals, change orders, RFIs, and job cost tracking reports.
- Maintain communication with clients to provide updates, address concerns, and ensure satisfaction.
- Schedule and attend inspections, testing, and system commissioning with AHJs and clients.
- Oversee close-out process including as-builts, O&M manuals, final billing, and turnover documentation.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of project management experience in fire protection (fire alarm and/or fire sprinkler).
- Strong knowledge of NFPA codes, fire alarm and sprinkler system components, and construction processes.
- Proven ability to manage commercial, industrial, or multi-family projects from pre-construction to close-out.
- NICET certification in Fire Alarm Systems and/or Water-Based Systems preferred.
- Experience with fire protection system manufacturers (e.g., Notifier, Siemens, Simplex, Tyco, Victaulic, Viking).
- Skilled in project management software and tools (e.g., Procore, Microsoft Project, Bluebeam).
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specs, and code requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred (not required).
Work Conditions
- Hybrid role between office and field with regular travel to job sites.
- Must be able to walk construction sites and climb ladders when needed.
- Occasional evening or weekend work to meet project deadlines or attend inspections.
