CONSTRUCTION PROJECT MANAGER - MECHANICAL/ELECTRICAL ENGINEER

Salary Range: $135,000 - $150,000 /year
Job Type: Full-Time
We are seeking motivated Construction Project Managers with a degree in Mechanical Engineering to join our team on a project at the National Museum of the American Indian in New York, NY. Candidates will report to a Program Manager and collaborate and assist Smithsonian client staff to provide data and generate reports on the project.
Responsibilities
The Construction Project Manager will provide leadership and project and/or construction management of a single major program or project or multiple projects. The Construction Project Manager provides decisive direction regarding business, technical, and personnel management involving multi-disciplinary and diverse functional activities. The Construction Project Manager will be required to learn, and implement industry, client, and internal company best practices related to project delivery, budget, schedule, quality, and operations in the federal government environment. The Construction Project Manager will be leading a team of professionals and acting as an advisor/liaison to the client (user groups, design team, contractors, and facility engineering representatives). The project may require off-hours work during construction to minimize the impact on facility operations.
A summary of the major tasks is below:
- Provides project and/or construction management of a single major program or project or multiple projects.
- Provides decisive direction regarding business, technical, and personnel management involving multi-disciplinary and diverse functional activities.
- Is responsible for the overall management, in terms of technical quality, cost, and schedule. Maintains daily progress reports and inspection reports.
- Leads the inspection and quality assurance team assigned to projects to ensure timely and effective project oversight.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering
- Experience: Minimum of 6 years of experience in the management of both design and construction phases of a project.
- Knowledge: Able to quickly understand and master
- Requirements of local state and federal jurisdictions concerning the Project.
- Construction Contract Documents including Front End and Technical Specifications and Drawings to readily understand and assess the requirements.
- Working knowledge of engineering services, building codes, budgeting, and scheduling to lead to the project's success.
- Leadership: Must possess the ability to collaborate and integrate with other professionals
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Federal government projects.
- CCM or PMP certifications
- Licensing: Professional Engineer (P.E.)
