Mill Metal Worker III
Position Summary
As a Mill Metal Worker III, you will perform advanced duties including the independent set up of forging die tooling and operating forging machines, setting up and operating drawing and wire rolling machines, inspecting produced parts, loading/unloading furnace, etc. to make a variety of forged products. This is accomplished by maintaining Tecomet's principles of Safety, Quality, Customer Satisfaction, and Innovations.
Principle Responsibilities
- Perform the job as level I and level II responsibilities if needed
- Analyze process sheets, specifications, drawings, prints and instructions to determine needed parts, materials, dies and tools for each job.
- Advanced inspection of produced parts to specifications, drawings/prints.
- Utilize furnace to heat parts/material where specified for machine operations.
- Advanced operations of annealing equipment/furnace with control panel, where standard operating procedures and methods are provided, to stress-relieve metal tubing/parts.
- Operate bandsaws, cutoff and horizontal saws to cut parts/material to proper lengths.
- Change over die tooling for all types of forging work and make machine/tooling adjustments to obtain quality forged products.
- Advanced proficiency inspecting work using precision measuring instruments.
- Operate cut-off and grinding machines as necessary for forging operations.
- Move materials as necessary in performance of duties and maintain necessary records.
- Detect and report improper operation, faulty equipment, defective materials, and unusual conditions to supervisor.
- Maintain work area and equipment in clean, safe, and orderly condition.
- Follow established company rules, regulations, and safety precautions, and maintain quality standards.
- Perform other related duties as required or as directed.
Qualification Requirements
Credentials/Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED or HiSET).
- 4+ years related experience operating band saw, belt grinders and/or forge press.
- Previous experience using prints, micrometers and verniers is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to work with limited supervision by utilizing advanced judgement with availability to mentor or guide Level II employees.
- High level proficiency with adjustable measuring instruments, checking of reports, forms, records, and comparable data, where interpretation is required.
- Previous experience with large/small cut-off machines equipped with carbide/standard cutting tools, grinding, polishing machines, files, rulers, hand tools and related tools and safety equipment, preferred.
- Requires the use of arithmetic including decimals and fractions, simple use of drawings, prints, specifications and work orders, use of adjustable measuring equipment, were interpretation.
- Proficiency recognizing problems with parts and provide solutions or suggestions to correct problems.
- Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers to achieve production goals.
- Ability to work effectively with Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Clean and Pack.
