Position Summary
This position performs in a supervisory capacity in a Transportation Regional office in the functional area as a Traffic Unit Supervisor under the Systems Operations Section Chief. The position supervises the traffic signal systems and highway lighting engineering, traffic safety engineering, traffic operations, management, highway traffic regulations and permit review, field electrical operations, incident management, and various general traffic engineering duties.
This position's primary role is to achieve program objectives by interpreting and applying policy within its programmatic area and directly supervise staff. This includes coordinating staff and resources to meet program objectives; providing training and development opportunities to staff; applying technical expertise in decision making; developing and implementing policy; performing professional engineering work; applying professional engineering expertise in decision-making; and prioritizing, assigning, and monitoring work to meet project requirements and deadlines.
Salary Information
These positions are in schedule-range (81-30) with an annual salary of $104,000 - $118,456, plus excellent benefits. A twelve month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.

Qualifications
Qualified applicants will have experience with all the following:
- A valid Professional Engineering registration and be able to obtain a Wisconsin PE registration within 3 months if the PE registration is from another state.
- Experience in transportation program or project management.
- Examples may include: Oversight of transportation projects or programs in design/construction (interpretation of Facilities Development Manual, Highway Maintenance Manual, Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices or similar) including delivery of plans, specifications, and estimates (PSE). Managing project or program progress tracking/reporting. Negotiation and/or administering consultant contracts. Developing and tracking project or program budgets etc.
