We're looking for a Communications Technician II to lead small teams and ensure the successful installation, testing, and troubleshooting of voice and data cabling systems. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a hands-on environment, enjoys mentoring others, and takes pride in delivering high-quality work. What You'll Do: Install & Terminate Cabling: Set up work area outlets for floor, wall, and modular furniture. Terminate CAT 3 and CAT 5 jacks, mount faceplates, and surface mount boxes. Build Telecom Closets: Mount backboards, racks, patch panels, and fiber optic hardware. Install grounding systems and complete IDC terminations (110/66 blocks). Test & Troubleshoot: Perform continuity tests, identify and resolve wiring issues (opens, shorts, crosses, etc.), and use tone sets and volt-ohmmeters. Lead & Train: Supervise small crews, coordinate timelines, and provide on-the-job training to ensure project success. Documentation: Accurately complete all required paperwork including timesheets, work orders, material transfers, and change orders. Safety & Standards: Follow all company, customer, and industry safety and quality standards. What You'll Need: Proven experience in structured cabling and telecommunications installation Ability to lead and train small teams Strong troubleshooting and testing skills Familiarity with industry standards and labeling protocols Excellent time management and communication skills Tools You'll Use: Basic Tools: Screwdrivers, drywall saw, torpedo level, tape measure, snips, pliers, hammer, cable stripper, flashlight, gloves Specialized Tools: Punch tool (110/66 block), tone set, 6/8 position crimp tool, Krone/3M/BIX tools
