Civil Engineer Co-Op - Fall 2025

Responsibilities
Assists in gathering field data and capital cost estimating when needed
With supervision, uses design criteria document(s) to meet the project objectives
Ensures quality and technical accuracy of assigned deliverables
Follows the BSI Standard Operating Procedures and Client Standards
With supervision, performs necessary calculations and design effort to prepare deliverables
Coordinates work with civil associates on a project
Meets individual schedule and budget objectives on assigned projects
Design of earthwork, pavement, underground utilities, storm water management, erosion control methodologies
With supervision, selects appropriate construction materials
With supervision, participates in construction support, startup and commissioning efforts
Interfaces with other design discipline counterparts and project management as needed
Occasionally interfaces with local authority having jurisdiction (AHJ) for permitting coordination
Occasionally interfaces with outside consultants and contractors (geotechnical engineers, surveyors, construction contractors)
Learning the role of other disciplines and overall project requirements during the project lifecycle
With supervision, may participate in multi-discipline squad checks of deliverables before issuance
Identifies and communicates scope change for discipline
Continually communicates their individual forecasted staffing requirements for their assigned projects
Requirements
Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
Completed at least 4 semesters of related engineering courses
Prior co-op experience preferred
Developing written and oral communication skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks
Strong ability to analyze and critically assess problems
Understanding civil engineering concepts and principles and gaining familiarity with all necessary codes
Gaining knowledge of construction materials, construction methods and industry standards
Gaining civil design experience including storm water analysis, underground utility and three-dimensional modeling.
