Compensation Range: $22/hr - $25/hr commensurate with experience
Benefits:

Overview:
Under the supervision of the Assistant Director for Facility, the HVAC Mechanic is responsible for performing a variety of standard to moderately complex technical tasks related to installing, maintaining, and repairing heating, cooling, ventilation, and related systems. Perform all work to comply with related building codes, local, state, federal and governing codes, and agency policies and procedures. This position's main goal is to provide a safe and adequate indoor air quality/working environment for clients and staff.
Responsibilities:
Provide ongoing assessments of the HVAC units to ensure they best meet the goals of the agency; clear, detailed information to assist in eliminating/ correcting problem areas and/ or improvement of HVAC units.
Installation of HVAC units, including electronic and mechanical components.
Installation of HVAC ductwork including flexible tubing and sheet metal construction.
Troubleshoot and repair HVAC units including electronic and mechanical components.
Install or repair fuel and water supply lines.
Installation of Refrigeration units, including electronic and mechanical components.
Conserve, install and recycle CFC and HCFC (Chlorofluorocarbon family) refrigerants
Install or repair electrical connections to HVAC components.
Install or repair HVAC system automation components for businesses or "smart homes".
Participate in staff meetings and training sessions.
Locates, picks up, and delivers parts required for equipment needs.
Checks and changes air filters regularly.
Check condensers and evaporators.
Participate in advocacy/ direct action to end the twin crises of AIDS and homelessness.
Directly implements policies and procedures. All incidents must be immediately reported to the site manager, and your supervisor.
Carry tools and supplies, purchasing of goods.
If necessary, use public transportation as a mean of communication to execute work orders.
Ensures compliance with all health code and NY OSHA workplace safety requirements.
Recommend and implement methods to save energy.
Overtime hours may be required, including Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.
Must lift and carry items which weigh up to 100 lbs. regularly.
On-call availability 24/7
Minimum Requirements
High School Diploma or GED
Five (5) years + experience in the HVAC field
Technical training or work experience in one or more building trade skill sets such as electrical, plumbing, and general construction experience.
Must have working knowledge of equipment installation and repair.
Must have good organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communications skills.
Basic knowledge of computer skills.
