About the Job

As an Electrical Engineer on our R&D/Neuroelectronics team, you will play a key role in development and testing of hardware for a commercial-ready Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) system. We are looking for candidates with experience in electronics design & manufacturing who are excited to bring their skills to a mission-driven environment. You will get to spearhead complex electromechanical designs for next-generation implantable hardware, external accessories, and manufacturing test systems. You will collaborate with embedded software and mechanical engineers to deliver robust solutions that integrate within Synchron's product ecosystem.

Job Location

Onsite in Brooklyn, New York with occasional travel to suppliers.

Job Responsibilities

  • Design, build, test, and launch electrical hardware across our user-facing devices and manufacturing test systems.
  • Support Python-based manufacturing and test software.
  • Support manufacturing partners, suppliers, and external test labs.
  • Effectively communicate system architecture, detailed design, and test protocols to internal stakeholders.
  • As our team and goals grow, your responsibilities may adapt to meet changing needs or new opportunities.

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years PCBA design experience
  • 1+ years Python experience
  • Bachelors degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, applied physics, or related field

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience working with bioelectronics or other precision sensor systems
  • Background in wireless systems/communication, particularly with Bluetooth LE
  • Experience working in medical devices or other regulated industry
  • Experience with embedded firmware development in C/C++
  • Experience with regulatory/compliance testing (e.g. FCC Part 15, IEC 60601, IEC 61000, ISO 14708)
  • Graduate degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, applied physics, or related field

Compensation

The base salary range for this role is $120k-155k depending on experience, skills, and qualifications. In addition to base pay, this role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses and/or equity grants subject to board approval and company policy.
