Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Electrical Technician III to join our team. This role requires advanced knowledge in troubleshooting and maintaining variable frequency drives (VFDs), programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and 480-volt motor control systems in industrial or commercial environments. The ideal candidate is a hands-on technician with a strong understanding of complex electrical systems and a commitment to safety and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain VFDs from major manufacturers (e.g. Toshiba, AllenBradley, ABB, Siemens, etc.)
- Perform diagnostics and maintenance on PLC-based control systems
- Install, wire, and test 480V motor controls and related equipment
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation
- Execute preventive maintenance routines and document all work performed
- Work independently or with a team on control system upgrades, installations, and emergency repairs
- Ensure all work complies with NEC, OSHA, and company safety standards
- Assist in the commissioning of new systems and support start-up operations
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in an industrial or commercial electrical setting
- Strong proficiency in troubleshooting VFDs and motor control systems
- Experience working with and programming PLCs (Allen-Bradley preferred)
- Ability to safely work with 480V systems and understand lockout/tagout procedures
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Strong attention to detail and documentation
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in confined spaces or elevated areas when required
Preferred Certifications (not required but a plus):
- Journeyman or Master Electrician License
- OSHA 10/30 Certification
- VFD and/or PLC manufacturer-specific training or certification
