Transportation Engineer 3, Office of Contract Sales & Estimating, PN 20049400
What You Will Do:
Prepares official Engineers' Estimates for diverse civil projects by interpreting construction plans and applying both historical and cost-based estimating methods.
Analyzes bids and project documents to detect unbalanced pricing, potential manipulation, and costly plan errorsthen communicates findings to leadership.
Uses AASHTOWare Preconstruction and data tools like Excel to develop tailored cost models and time estimates for complex construction activities.
Supports management by evaluating change orders, reviewing value engineering proposals, and responding to budgetary inquiries.

Licensed as registered professional engineer by Ohio State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors; 12 mos. exp. as group or project leader providing work direction & training to engineering technicians &/or lower-level engineers or 12 mos. exp. in conducting engineering related research (i.e., conducting engineering related research only applies to staff specialist positions); if assigned to operate a state vehicle to travel to & inspect project sites, must possess valid driver's license.
-Or licensed as registered professional engineer by Ohio State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors; 12 mos. exp. as Transportation Engineer 2, 85642; if assigned to operate a state vehicle to travel to & inspect project sites, must possess valid driver's license.
-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above may be substituted for the experience required, but not for the mandated registration.
