- Inspect for proper surveying and staking.
- Provide input on proposed plans as part of the Development Review Committee (DRC).
- Inspect and observe construction activities daily.
- Coordinate and schedule requested inspections.
- Monitor the testing of construction materials.
- Collect and convey information for approval of needed changes to approved plans.
- Obtain proper documentation associated with all changes.
- Process and track monthly estimates and pay requests on capital improvements projects prior to approval by the Director of Public Works.
- Inspect construction methods and right-of-way restoration of in-house and franchise crews.
- Inspect materials and methods of construction associated with roads, water, sewer, storm drain and other public infrastructure.
- Compile and maintain detailed project records including daily reports and other documentation as needed.
- Respond to concerns and inquiries from neighbors in construction zones and resolves complaints from neighbors in and around the area.
- Coordinate project walk-throughs and administer the final acceptance process.
- Inspect and enforce erosion control measures at construction sites during construction.
- Provide input during pre-design and assists with design review.
- Coordinate and attend pre-construction meetings.
- Review submittals and mix-designs.
- Compile necessary documents and creates project construction file.
- Monitor administrative activities prior to active construction.
- Inspect and compare material deliveries to approved submittals.
- Inspect and compare trench safety means and methods to approved plan.
- Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
High school or GED, plus 3 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must possess a valid Class "C" driver's license when hired.
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, criminal background check and MVR check.
Basic: Spreadsheet, Word Processing/Typing is required.
PREFERRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSCertified Public Infrastructure Inspector Certification (CPII) and/or water and wastewater licensing.
One year of college/trade school related to drafting, surveying, utility construction, or related technical curriculum.
Curriculum in Civil or Environmental Engineering or Engineering Technology.

May be subject to exposure to extreme weather conditions, hazardous materials, chemicals and fumes, heavy construction equipment, confined spaces, heights, and air and water borne pathogens.
Must be able to lift up to 70 pounds.
