About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented Cost Estimator / Cost Manager to support a high-impact infrastructure program at the Jerome Park Reservoir in the Bronx. In this role, you'll be responsible for managing cost estimates, preparing and reviewing change orders, conducting quantity take-offs, and working closely with contractors, engineers, and project managers to assess and document project cost impacts.
This position is ideal for a candidate with strong experience in cost control, estimating, and contract change management-particularly within public infrastructure or NYC DEP projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and negotiate change orders with contractors, consultants, and project stakeholders.
- Perform detailed quantity take-offs and cost estimates to support change order validation and project forecasting.
- Collaborate with engineers, field staff, and project managers to identify scope changes and assess cost impacts.
- Review construction drawings and utilize AutoCAD and Bluebeam to evaluate changes and support documentation.
- Maintain comprehensive records of change order submissions, negotiations, and approvals.
- Ensure compliance with contract terms, technical specifications, and regulatory requirements.
- Support project cost control efforts, including budget tracking and forecasting.
- Mentor junior staff in estimating practices and cost documentation.
Required Qualifications
- 5-10 years of experience in cost estimating, cost management, or construction change order management.
- Proven experience working directly with contractors, including a solid understanding of DEP processes and documentation.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Bluebeam for drawing analysis and take-offs.
- Strong knowledge of civil construction practices, estimating methods, and quantity take-offs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working on NYC DEP or other public infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with water treatment, utility, or civil infrastructure programs.
- Prior involvement in large-scale municipal or agency-led capital programs.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $77.00 - $77.00/hr.
