This key position on Samuel Automation's Manufacturing team, is responsible for wiring electrical systems, electronic components and installing hardware for custom automated equipment. This position relies on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals.
What You'll Be Doing
- Assemble and mount control panels and other electrical components under the guidance of a Senior Electrician
- At times, you will be asked to fulfill the lead role on projects, providing guidance to more junior employees including assigning daily tasks, mentoring new hires and participating in team updates
- Wire control panels and automated machinery in accordance with customer requirements and external, company and department standards and practices
- Keep inventory control and usage of electrical components
- Maintaining electrical drawing changes made during wiring and debugging
- Control cabinet layout, wiring and cabinet modifications
- Participate in tear down, shipment and installation of equipment on customer's jobsite.
- Verify components purchased are correct for the build
- Resolving issues through technical problem solving and trouble shooting
- Adhere to all health and safety policies and procedures
- Provide customer training when required and fill out daily site reports
- Work with the Manager to be a positive motivating force within the team
- Communicate and be a channel for any constructive or objective ideas that arise, helping to keep the manufacturing standards up-to-date and at the highest level. Use the team as a pool of technical knowledge, solving problems together efficiently
- Reporting issues regarding workmanship or design to the Manufacturing Manager
- Maintaining a tidy and organized workspace
- Be an ambassador for Samuel Automation at the customer's site, providing a quick and efficient installation of the equipment
You'll Be Great At
- A Certificate as an Industrial Electrician, a Construction/Maintenance Electrician or equivalent or work experience
- Two years' experience in wiring custom automated machines
- Two years' experience reading and interpreting drawings and solid models
- Problem solving skills
- Thriving in an ever-changing environment
- Demonstrated knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and Multi-meters
- Two years' experience using computers and computer software
- Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills
- Must be capable of working in a team environment and be able to maintain a positive attitude and consistent contribution to the projects assigned
Level of Autonomy and Authority
- Take direction from the Lead Electrician and Manufacturing Manager.
Key Requirements
- Demonstrated knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and multimeters

- Ability to travel internationally up to 10% of the time
- Ability to cross international border (Passport required)
Working conditions
Manufacturing environment: May be exposed to loud noises, changing temperatures, machinery with moving parts, and exotic materials.
Equipment/machinery used
Multi-Meter, hand tools, power tools, computer, calculator, measurement tools, crane, fork truck, and pallet-jack.
Physical requirements
Sitting, standing, kneeling, laying, stooping, crawling, reaching, pulling, lifting up to 50lbs regularly and 75lbs occasionally, typing, visual acuity, occasional travel (up to 25%) for extended periods including overnight and weekends.
