Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions) Assists with audits of plant facilities regulated under OSHA, General Industry and Construction Standards. Investigate all incidents and lead event learning teams. Participate in safety committee meetings and provide insight and resources on committee safety concerns and corrective solutions. Conduct job site and plant safety inspections to ensure compliance with OSHA 1910 General and 1926 Construction industries. Lead plant and roadway incident investigations and document all accidents, safety violations, injuries, and unsafe conditions/activities to find root cause and make recommendations for improvement. Stay up-to-date with changes in safety regulations and industry best practices. Coordinate with external agencies, such as OSHA or EPA, as necessary. Conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards and recommend appropriate control measures. Design and develop effective safety training programs for employees at all levels. Evaluate training needs based on job requirements and industry standards. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal FMCSA regulations. Create engaging training materials, including presentations, handouts, and online modules. Monitor and evaluate safety performance metrics. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to promote a culture of safety and sustainability Oversee and direct the work of field safety representatives. Provide health andsafety support to the Safety Director. Other duties as assigned by the Safety Director. Daily travel required Overnight travel 25-35%. Qualifications Education/Experience At least 5 years of construction and/or industrial safety experience. Thorough understanding of and ability to enforce all federal, state, local and company regulations. Bachelor's Degree EHS preferred. Work Requirements Must have a valid, state issued driver's license. Knowledge/Skill Requirements Ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement essential corrective measures. Influential leader. High ethical standards. Understands and is familiar with OSHA 1910, 1925 standards, and FMCSA. Excellent communication skills (both oral and written). Must be able to orchestrate multiple activities simultaneously to accomplish a goal. Able to use resources effectively and efficiently and arrange information in a useful manner. Be able to be a strong voice in bringing the company's slogan of SEE, STOP, DO to the forefront. Preferred Knowledge/Skills OHST, ASP, or CSP OSHA Authorized Trainer 10 and 30 Hour (General and Construction) Physical Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Able to communicate with others by telephone and in person. Able to utilize a computer for word processing, e-mail communication, and preparation of documents and presentations. Knowledge in MS Excel, MS Word, Powerpoint and Outlook. Intermittent climbing, bending, squatting, and kneeling are required. Periodic, but extensive walking and standing required. Must also be able to drive a vehicle and walk uneven terrain. May require periodically lifting objects up to 40 lbs.
