We are seeking a motivated and skilled Civil or Mechanical Engineer II-III to join our growing Gas Engineering Team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and executing natural gas pipeline projects that consistently meet-and exceed-client expectations. This position requires a solid understanding of pipeline design codes, construction standards, and safety protocols.
You will play a key role in overseeing project scope, budgeting, scheduling, and coordination with internal teams, clients, and municipalities. From initial concept to final delivery, you will ensure the successful execution of utility infrastructure projects that power our communities.
What you will do:
Lead the planning, routing, and design of gas distribution line projects with a focus on safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring all phases-from initiation to close-out-are delivered on time and within budget.
Perform site assessments and re existing infrastructure to inform design recommendations and minimize conflicts.
Develop project scopes, budgets, and schedules in collaboration with project managers and clients.
Prepare and re technical documentation including design drawings, calculations, construction packages, and as-builts.
Coordinate with permitting authorities, utility companies, and local municipalities to obtain required approvals and resolve conflicts.
Evaluate and select appropriate materials, equipment, and construction methods in accordance with project requirements and client specifications.
Collaborate closely with CAD/design teams to ensure design intent is properly communicated and executed in drawing sets.
Monitor project progress, identify potential risks or delays, and propose proactive solutions to keep projects on track.
Maintain clear and consistent communication with clients, contractors, vendors, and internal teams to ensure alignment and satisfaction.
Conduct quality assurance res and ensure all deliverables meet industry standards, client expectations, and regulatory requirements.
Support field staff during construction and respond to RFIs or design changes as needed.
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
Who you are:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong client-facing presence.
Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects with competing deadlines.
Agile and quick learner, adaptable to new technologies and design processes.
Business- and results-oriented mindset with a focus on delivering value to clients.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Teams).
Experience reading and interpreting civil/transportation design plans preferred.
Familiarity with utility infrastructure, especially in the gas sector.
Working knowledge of MicroStation and/or similar design software.
EIT (Engineer-in-Training) certification preferred.
My background:
Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
2-5 years of relevant engineering experience; utility experience is highly desirable.
